A Warm Welcome for Spring
As the flowers start to bloom and the temperature gets warmer, we begin to welcome spring by trading in our sweaters and boots for shorts and sandals. While you may be overjoyed for the warmer weather, after months of cold, dry and windy weather, your skin has taken a beating and is likely still feeling the winter blues.
It’s time to get your skin back in tiptop shape.
Exfoliate. Reveal your fresh new skin and slough off all those dead skin cells. Exfoliating will help even out skin texture, prevent breakouts, fight the signs of aging and minimize dark spots. Full-body exfoliating is also recommended to prepare your skin for hair removal and self-tanner, helping ensure a more even application with less streaking.
Moisturize. After exfoliating, moisturize everything, face, lips, hands, and body. Now that you’ve revealed your fresh new skin cells, it’s time to feed it with moisture. After a shower is a perfect opportunity to apply moisturizer. Don’t remove all the moisture, simply pat your skin dry and apply moisturizer to damp skin, sealing in more moisture.
Nourish. One of the best things you can do for your skin is to increase your intake of antioxidants, which helps protect skin from free radicals. Free radicals cause skin damage and, over time, contribute to aging by destroying collagen. The less collagen you have, the more wrinkles you get.
Protect. Protecting your skin from sun damage is of the utmost importance. Remember, the more frequently you use sunscreen now, the better you’ll look 10 years down the road. Don’t forget: apply and reapply!
